Puzzle Project – 24/07/2010

June’s edition of Puzzle Project certainly went with a bang – a month of true firsts! SWAP made his Puzzle debut with a set of awesome trancey treats, our brand new resident Andi Leppard introduced himself to the Puzzle crowd in emphatic psychedelic style and we played host to the very first episode of the brand new Danceplug podcasts. Watch this space for an exclusive live recording of Andi’s set from Puzzle and exclusive interviews with all our DJs.

Never ones to rest on our laurels, it’s onwards and upwards for July’s installment and we’ve gone distinctly psychedelic for this month’s party…..

First up is none other than the legendary Liquid Ross! A stalwart of the scene since his first gigs at underground warehouse parties in the late nineties, since then there’s not a lot this musical genius hasn’t accomplished. He’s played for some of the countries foremost psy parties such as Antiworld and Halcyon – for who he’s a resident – and has played to crowds of up to 10,000 at some of the world’s most renowned festivals (Glastonbury, Glade, and Earthdance being just a few examples). We’re massively excited at having him to play – expect a slick and spellbinding tour through the landscape of psy trance guided by a true master of his craft!

Our next guest is flying all the way in from Brazil, DJ Kali, one of South America’s foremost exponents of psychedelic trance. Her trip to the UK was prompted by a booking for this year’s Glade festival – although this year’s festival has sadly been cancelled she’ll happily still be gracing the decks of the 414 for us! She kicked off her career DJing for psy parties in Rio in 2003 and since then she’s toured most South American countries playing for some of the continent’s biggest parties such as Chile’s BPMs, Earthdance Bolivia and Trancendence. Her brand of psy encompasses hypnotic progressive through to spine-tingling, full-on beats. We’re looking forward to catching one of her rare UK sets with huge anticipation and you should be too!

Next up is Neil Psykinetic, Antiworld and Psychedelic Academy resident. You don’t get a residency at such legendary psy parties without the ability to craft a rip roaring set, and when you catch one of his sets you’ll see he’s got talent in spades – his infectious brand of driving psychedelia is guaranteed to take the roof of the 414!

Completing our psychedelic dream team is none other than Puzzle resident Phil Lankester. One of London’s favourite DJs, Phil never fails to create a truly electrifying atmosphere on a dancefloor, as shown by the frenzy he whipped the Puzzle faithful into with his set at last month’s party. Driving, filthy and uplifting, his sets have everything you could possibly want from an underground DJ set, all blended together with mesmerising skill.

Of course, Puzzle wouldn’t be Puzzle without some quality trance to get our guests into the mood – and who better to provide it than Matt Church! His Red Sky imprint continues to go from strength to strength, with the launch of sub labels Red Sky NuBreed and the Red Sky EP series, and a host of big names such as Tiesto, Sean Tyas and Dave Pearce (who has featured Red Sky tracks in his Trancecast series) supporting his releases. Matt’s latest release ‘Perfect Dream” has been riding high in the trance charts and again has attracted plenty of big name support. You’ll be sure to hear stacks of exclusive unreleased tracks all in Matt’s inimitable uplifting yet tough style!

Matt will be more than ably assisted by LK, the next of the Puzzle trance crew playing this month. Since joining the Puzzle crew at the beginning of this year, LK’s proved himself a truly blinding DJ. His sets encompass techno, house, euphoria and tech, and always make for an eclectic experience sure to intrigue and excite.

Completing this month’s line up is Puzzle’s resident lady, April! A firm favourite with Puzzle regulars, she’ll be closing out the party as only she knows how – with a set of funky, chunky hard dance with just a hint of cheekiness!

This month is set to be another classic edition of London’s biggest small party – don’t be the missing piece! We’ll see you on the dancefloor….
