Puzzle Project – 13/06/2008

As we draw ever nearer to the half way point in the year known to many as June, the sun begins to reappear from its 9 month hibernation and all of Britain gets ready for Summer, the Puzzle Project crew are busy slavering away, organising some of the best DJs the country has to offer. After our May instalment brought you an exclusive Psy Trance set from man of the moment Ed Real, a superb skills and label showcase from Ajay, some serious Hardstyle filth courtesy of our very own Dean Zone as well as the usual excellence from our residents, in particular Phil Lankester who delivered his amazing live Ableton set for the first time, we somehow seem to think that we’ve gone and bettered ourselves yet again! For more information Puzzlers, read on…

Phil Reynolds is one DJ who needs absolutely no introduction. After rocking Puzzle Project to its very core nearly 2 years ago to the day, we thought it was time we brought him back.
The former Frantic resident’s CV speaks for itself, including not only gigs at every London venue worth going to, but countless mix compilations and international tours under his belt. His recent artist album Digital Revolution was released to widespread critical acclaim, as has his recent Live PA gigs and not forgetting his involvement in seminal label Impact, as well as his new label Digital Creation. With countless releases under his belt, many of which are considered classics of our time, we think Phil is one of the hardest working DJs around and are very happy to welcome him back to Puzzle Project and our home, Club 414!

Being a resident at 414 after party Sunrise makes Steve Morley no stranger to us, and neither should he be to you too. Label manager at Essential Digital and running a studio of the same name, Steve has really been producing the goods of late, showing signs of a producer and DJ at the peak of his powers right now. A veteran of dance music who really can claim to have seen it all, having releases as far back as 1992 and constantly since, this 414 favourite will be making his Puzzle Project debut and will show you just why he has lasted so long in such a cut throat industry.
Showcasing new Trance productions hot off the press under his many aliases (including but not limited to Dave Holmes and Starchild) means that many trance DJs will have his tunes in their box without even knowing it! With releases this year on Razor, Fevah, World of Trance and Massive Trax already, it’s nice to know that veterans of the scene can still show the young pretenders a thing or two.

This brings us nicely onto our last guest for the evening, a certain young man known to many as Ped. Another resident for 414 after party Sunrise, Ped has a near encyclopaedic knowledge of all things trance. The mastermind behind the only Trance night in Kingston – Ascendance, he has been taking time off from promoting recently in order to concentrate on what he loves most – DJ’ing. Capable of perfect warm up sets, epic peak time trance and ,more recently, experimenting with the latest addition to the Puzzle Project music policy mainstay – Psy Trance, we feel Ped has more than enough versatility to justify his appearance for Puzzle.

It wouldn’t be a Puzzle Project party without our trusty residents, ready to give you your monthly dose of whatever gets you off, from Breaks, Techno, Trance, Hard House, Hard Trance and Psy Trance. In case you have somehow forgotten they are (in no particular order) Phil Lankester, Matt Church, Ben Bennett and Gordon Darley!

However, it wouldn’t be the 414 if there wasn’t an after party, so we are once again we are proud to present reFre5h!
